Prasat Beng Mealea Temple being included in Angkor Pass
Closure of Prasat Bayon Temple Third Terrace
From January 1st, 2020 onwards
Please be informed that from January 1st 2020 onwards, access and visit to Beng Mealea Temple is currently being included and incorporated into the Angkor Archaeological Pass and Angkor Pass can also be purchased at Beng Mealea Check Point as well.
In the meantime, also from January-1st 2020, following the ICC-Angkor (International Coordination Committee for Angkor) meeting last December and experts’ recommendations, due to the massive flow of visitors and the weariness of the stones, the APSARA Authority managing the Angkor site has decided that the 3rd/Third Terrace of Bayon Temple will be off-limits to visitors and closed until further notice, as to allowing and conducting studies concerning the stability of the 54 towers and main sanctuary, and to conduct research for the security of the visitors and to also allow for the site being properly protected and safeguarded from the effects of mass-tourism. Visitors can still admire the Bas-reliefs and sculptures at Ground Level and on the First and Second Terraces for the time being.
