All Dreams Cambodia Team members are pleased to announce the resumption of Train Services by the Royal Railways Company from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville scheduled to start in early April 2016 before the Khmer New Year.
Passenger trains are set to roll between the Capital City Phnom Penh and the Coast next month for the first time ever in 14 years since the services stopped due to the derelict state of the rail roads. The 266-kilometer "Southern Line” from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville will be running before the Khmer New Year (April 13-16 ’2016) as to reduce road traffic during the holidays. Passenger trains operating on this road will carry about 400 people in five carriages divided in two classes – a regular Coach Class cooled by fans and plush VIP wagons offering air-conditioning. The journey will take around 8 hours averaging 33 km/h, indeed “A Slow Train Journey” however with beautiful scenery and landscapes all along the way, completed by the lively and picturesque Cambodian Countryside Life during the stops, with merchants offering local delicacies at the cars’ windows.
In addition to launching regular passenger trains in coming April, Royal Railway Company also intends to offer a private charter service, as “the company has plans to provide a service for clients to rent the train for private tours to enjoy the scenery along the way to Sihanoukville”.
We will keep you posted for new updates in this matter!
